The CAM shaft and Wheel
It is possible to see three of the lifting elements on the shaft but there are actually four. It means that every time the wheel does one complete rotation, the hammer will operate four times.
It is also possible to see the wooden spring above the hammer rod. This beam is forced to bend by the hammer being lifted and thus when it is released by the CAM, there is more energy in the impact from the hammer.
